We had a wooden sash and case double-glazed window at the back of our house replaced. The original was old, rotting, and the double-glazing seal had broken so that there was a lot of condensation between the panes; it was also not a very big window. We wanted to replace it with the same (but of course in good condition!), but it was almost impossible to find someone who was willing to come out to us (we're in East Lothian) for just the one window, especially one that had to have a wood frame (we're in a conservation area with strict rules). Eco Sash and Case were not only prepared to come and assess the job, quote fairly, and check to make sure that we were happy with all the details before proceeding, but were unfailingly friendly and approachable. They did the job when they said they would (in fact, they were able to get the painting done earlier than they thought, which was much appreciated), and the team were capable, quick and efficient. They took care not to make a mess and they left the room clean and thoroughly hoovered to remove any sawdust; the painter also took care to repaint our sill in our own paint, after doing the frame in the requested white. As the room is our bedroom (and not an easy room to navigate, with beams etc.), we are incredibly happy to have had this all completed before the winter really sets in. It was not cheap, but it was a fair price for all the work involved in producing and fitting a custom-made, very nice-looking window.Helen Bleck5

Unlike other companies, ES&C advised that we could retain the current frame and fit double glazing glass at a very reasonable price and without the need to put scaffolding to the 3rd floor. Other quotations we got at the time were three times the price we paid with Eco Sash. The team was on time and the quality of the work excellent! Joiners did a brilliant job, left the house the same way as before they started, and the painters we also excellent! We have noticed a massive difference in terms of heat retention, reduced use of heating and of course on the window condensation. The company offered a competitive price for upgrading my single glazed sash and case bedroom windows to acoustic glazing. Unlike competitors, Eco advised that we could retain the current frame and fit acoustic glass - other companies suggested I would need to get a completely new frame, which was more expensive. Communication from the admin team was good throughout, although there was a delay of a few weeks over the course of the project due to other works overrunning, which was a bit disappointing. The installation team was great, arriving on time and efficient. I had to ask the painting team to come back to fix a couple of snagging issues which, to be fair to them, they did the very next day. The glass perhaps doesn’t block out quite as much noise as I’d have liked, but I think that’s mainly due to the materials/design of sash and case - the windows do look great, though. Strip & Preparation – We strip all existing paint from flat surfaces and astragals.Repairs – We complete all woodwork repairs in the scope of work. When needed, we re-putty glazing, remove sand mastic and foam cavity fill, and clear debris from sash pockets. We fill open grain areas with a two-part filler and sand all surfaces in preparation for decoration.Materials- We use redwood for all new timber components and fit polished brass ironmongery throughout. In most cases if your original windows are fitted with single glazing, a new sash will be required. This is because the existing single-glazed sash typically doesn’t have enough depth to accommodate a double-glazed unit. However, we will keep the original window casing.
