Lunchtimes at Hampton are 85-minutes long enabling everyone time to enjoy a delicious lunch and attend at least one club or activity.
With over 130 clubs and societies to choose from, there is something for everyone from Lego Robotics to Beekeeping Club, and Rock Climbing to Board Games Club. Boys are also invited to set up their own clubs if they have a particular area of interest.

Hampton is a welcoming and diverse community and life-changing bursaries are at the heart of our ethos. Our pupils come from a large number of different feeder schools and a wide variety of backgrounds.
There are currently 96 pupils in the School on completely Free Places, a number of which are funded by The Fitzwygram Foundation, and many more receive financial help with fees known as bursaries. The Fitzwygram Foundation is our dedicated charity which was set up in 2018, with the aim of providing free places to boys who would flourish here but whose families could not otherwise afford a Hampton education.
A sense of mutual support and camaraderie is a defining feature of Hampton life. Kindness is very important and can be found at the heart of our community. Our boys support those around them and celebrate each other’s achievements.

For over 25 years, David has worked for humanitarian relief operations in natural disasters and war-torn countries. He has been at the forefront of the British Red Cross response to international crises, including in Afghanistan, Haiti and Syria.

Professional Footballer
Hampton football legend Josh currently plays for Fulham FC and made his Premier League debut in 2024. Josh’s talent was clear for all to see as he progressed through school, most memorably scoring an electric solo goal to help Hampton win the prestigious ESFA cup.

Film & TV Composer
Jody is an established composer of music for film and television. His credits include numerous original scores for some of the best known films and shows on screen including Paddington 2, Ghostbusters and Nanny McPhee.

Currently a Visiting Research Fellow at Southampton University’s National Oceanography Centre, Adam has been working in collaboration with the British Antarctic Survey studying the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Patrick attended Hampton through the Bursary Programme. After achieving a Master's in Science Communication he decided on a career in front of the camera. Today, he travels the world working on some of the most popular prime-time wildlife series.

Rock Legend
Sir Brian May is a founding member of one of the UK’s most successful bands, Queen, a world-renowned guitarist, songwriter, producer and performer, a Doctor of Astrophysics, and a passionate advocate and campaigner for animal rights. After writing 22 hits for Queen, Brian returned to his studies graduating with a PhD in Astrophysics in 2007.

Sierra Leone Ebola Programme
Dr Danny worked as medical coordinator for Médecins du Monde during the Syrian refugee crisis and supported the Rohingya population in Myanmar. Daniel joined the King’s College Sierra Leone Partnership in 2014 helping to care for over 1,100 Ebola patients. He is now Country Director for the partnership.

Hampton Music Scholar, Finlay was a Brass Finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. He now plays 4th Horn with the RPO and has worked with leading orchestras across the UK and Europe.

James Warner is a chassis dynamics engineering manager for McLaren Automotive. With full vehicle technical responsibility for the Mclaren 620R and 765LT he is responsible for taking the design from concept all the way through to customer delivery.

Tech Entrepreneur
Adnan Ebrahim was named one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2020. He set up the motor enthusiast website Car Throttle while studying Economics at UCL and has now founded a mental health app called MindLabs.

Performance Sports Coach
Former GB rower, Dom, runs his own elite sports coaching business – and is one of the most prominent bike riders in the UK, claiming a stunning victory in the Rás Tailteann, Ireland’s fiercely competitive premier stage race in 2024.

Former Hampton cricket captain Naavya Sharma OH (2024) has been awarded a professional contract with Middlesex County Cricket Club.

In recent years, Adam has covered Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup football for Fox Sports, reaching millions of homes across North America and Asia. I’ve been at Hampton for two years now and it’s great! My main interests currently are History and Drama and I’ve already been in several productions including playing Macbeth which I really enjoyed. One of my best memories so far was the First Year Avon Tyrell trip where we got to know our fellow classmates. The people in my dorm then have become some of my closest friends and I really think that Avon Tyrell helped mould these friendships.
In sport, I really enjoy cricket and there are loads of opportunities to play including training in the winter and games sessions. It’s really helpful for progression and honing your skills.
My favourite thing about Hampton is the warm atmosphere. The second I walked through the door on my very first day, everyone was really helpful and kind.

Sixth Form is different from the lower years in that your relationship with teachers matures and you are given a lot more independence. I’ve valued the balance between study and still having lots of opportunities to explore my other interests and passions.
Sixth Form has been my favourite time at Hampton, I’ve loved my drama and sporting opportunities and really enjoyed studying my favourite subjects.
My A Level subjects are Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics and I’m planning on studying Engineering at university. I’ve loved being at Hampton from the start, but Sixth Form has been my favourite time – smaller classes, focused topics and great teachers have all helped me progress academically. I’ve also got so much out of the co-curricular side of Hampton life.
This year, I decided to get involved with the drama on offer and I was lucky enough to be given the lead male role in the Hampton and LEH joint school musical 42nd Street, which involved learning to tap dance – a skill I never imagined acquiring but which was brilliant to learn. Being part of the cast was unforgettable and I loved every minute. On the sporting side, football was a big reason for joining Hampton and I have been in the B’s throughout my time at the School, staying with more or less the same team throughout. We have become great friends and this is definitely a highlight of my time here.
Music is an important part of my life too. A clarinettist, I am a member of the Symphony Orchestra, and taking part in the concerts held throughout the year in the Hammond Theatre is incredible. I’m also a singer with the male voice choir Voices of Lions and have had the incredible honour of performing at the Edinburgh Fringe – always a trip to look forward to!
It’s great to be able to use the Sixth Form Common Room – paninis and table football are an excellent way to unwind between lessons. Also, our dedicated study area, the Sixth Form Study Centre, has proven to be both a useful and enjoyable space to work in.
I am really going to miss Hampton but at the same time it has prepared me brilliantly for the next stage and I am excited to see where life goes next.

I went straight into teaching after university, completing my PGCE while at Hampton and have been here ever since. I was well aware of Hampton’s excellent reputation having grown up in London and my grandfather Victor attended from 1932-1939 when Hampton was still a grammar school, so there was very much a part of me which wanted to follow in his footsteps!
What struck me about Hampton when I arrived was its strong sense of community: from the porter greeting me as I walked in, to the kindness and support which my colleagues showed me, to the archivist’s willingness to find my grandfather’s school records.
When it comes to the education on offer, Hampton offers pupils freedom: freedom to be themselves, and to unlock parts of themselves which they didn’t know were there. This is down to not only the wealth of academic and co-curricular opportunities available, but also to the community in which these opportunities are seized: it is a community which fosters love of learning, ambition, responsibility and respect.

– a sea of raised hands is the norm at Hampton.
I love getting to know my pupils and seeing them progress over the years and I am privileged to work alongside such intelligent, ambitious and hardworking colleagues. I can see myself working here for a long, long time – just as many colleagues have before me!

Our son, Josh, loved his time at Hampton. At the age of 11, he was in the fortunate position of having various offers from different schools for secondary education. There were numerous things that made Hampton stand out, however. The first was the ethos of the School, which marries high academic standards with numerous co-curricular activities, giving an excellent rounded education. This was extremely important to Josh, who is a keen footballer, but also interested in a range of sports. The second was the approach of the Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, who always gave the impression that he was interested in the welfare of every child in the School. His personal approach with prospective parents and children spoke volumes.
We have always found that the success of a school mirrors the character of the headmaster, and that is certainly true of Hampton. Finally, during visits and the examination and interview process we felt that the School had a very caring and nurturing approach, coupled with a clear philosophy of supporting children from all backgrounds.

Patrick Aryee is a renowned wildlife TV Presenter hosting popular nature shows on the BBC, Sky and most recently in the USA. After leaving Hampton with three A Levels, Patrick studied at Bristol University for a degree in Cancer Biology followed by a Master’s in Science Communication before deciding on a career in wildlife film-making.
What many people don’t realise is what the beginning of my journey looked like. My brother, sister and I were all raised by mum and single-parent finances were understandably tight to say the least. With this in mind, the only way I was able to attend Hampton was through a bursary programme. I still had to pay the attendance fee but thankfully the total cost was reduced by just enough.”
Without that bursary, without that charitable donation, I wouldn’t be standing here as the person I am today.
Today, that person is someone who has gone free-diving with sperm whales, sat eye-to-eye with huge ferocious lions, walked a six-tonne bull elephant, and more comically, been sprayed in the face by a skunk!
I want to thank Hampton School for providing me with the opportunity to be the best version of myself.
Hampton was undoubtedly instrumental in seeing me through my formative years and it’s where I met some of my lifelong friends. What makes Hampton School special is that it supports you whatever your interests may be – for me this was not only my interest in science but also my love for drama and sport. The teachers are passionate about the subjects they teach, and they inspired me – I still keep in touch with a few of them.
It’s so much fun making wildlife and science documentaries. It can get stressful at times, but we get to witness so many amazing sights and ground-breaking research first hand. Sharing that with people at home is such a privilege and it’s exciting to think that my job goes on to inspire others.

Teaching at the School is fun and stimulating – in part due to the curiosity and love of learning that the pupils have and also because of the privilege of working with such talented, dedicated, and hard-working colleagues. They are a massive part of the welcoming community at Hampton!
For me, one of the best parts about teaching Chemistry at Hampton is the number of experiments that I get to use in my lessons! I was never offered such practical and ‘hands-on’ opportunities when I was at school but they are invaluable in bringing a subject to life and I hope that my pupils enjoy the experiments as much as I love teaching them!

Hampton’s Continued Professional Development (CPD) provision includes bespoke INSET days, weekly learning, twilight sessions, online courses and provision for external CPD courses such as those offered by HMC.
We support members of the Common Room who choose to pursue further qualifications, including Master’s degrees and leadership qualifications, through financial and timetabling support.
There is a wealth of internal expertise on offer and some of the most beneficial CPD, comes informally within (and between) departments; there is a healthy culture of sharing ideas and resources, and observing colleagues is highly encouraged.

The programme is expertly coordinated by a highly experienced Induction Tutor, and ECTs are proficiently supported by mentors within their departments.
The report from our most recent IStip quality assurance visit (January 2020) stated ‘statutory induction at Hampton School is an example of best practice.’

Pension provision for staff is generous and competitive.

Fitness & Wellbeing

An onsite fitness suite is available for use by all members of the Common Room. Colleagues are also invited to use the swimming pool at the neighbouring Lady Eleanor Holles School.
Weekly yoga, running, football and tennis activities are open to all colleagues and there is also a Common Room Book Club and mindfulness sessions.

School Fees Remission

Hampton offers generous fee remission to many colleagues (subject to eligibility) who work at the School.  Fee remission at neighbouring Lady Eleanor Holles School (LEH) is also available for children of Hampton School Trust employees, subject to LEH admissions criteria.

Health Care

Private health insurance provides the reassurance of knowing you can get fast access to diagnosis and eligible treatment when you need it. Hampton School’s private health insurance is in association with AXA Health Insurance Company. (Enrolment is subject to eligibility)
Death-in-Service Benefit is available to all members of the Common Room and Personal accident insurance also covers all employees while on-site or on School business.
Hampton has three on-site School counsellors who provide support for pupils and colleagues when needed.

Social Events

Hampton has a friendly and thriving Common Room with social events held throughout the year.
Hampton colleagues are invited to join the renowned Hampton and Lady Eleanor Holles Choral Society and there is a wide range of music, drama and dance performances staged at the School, all of which colleagues are welcome to attend. The Hammond Theatre also regularly streams performances from the National Theatre Live and Royal Opera House, for which discounted tickets are available to staff.
There are also weekly five-a-side staff football matches, social tennis, running, book club and weekly yoga classes.
The Common Room is a warm and friendly place for catching up with colleagues, enjoying a hot drink and snack or relaxing with a newspaper and sharing the morning crossword challenge.

Dining

Freshly prepared lunches are served to all colleagues in the Hampton Dining Room free of charge. There is a selection of hot and cold dishes, vegetarian and vegan options and an extensive salad bar. For busy times, there’s also the option of pre-order grab and go options.
Subsidised breakfast options are also available before School.

Travel to Work

There is free on-site parking for Hampton members of staff for those arriving by two or four wheels. Hampton encourages as many pupils and staff members to travel to School sustainably as possible.
Bike Racks: Sheffield Stands across both School sites ensure that there is safe, undercover parking for over 200 bikes.
Cycle to Work Scheme: This is available to all Hampton School Trust employees on a minimum 12-month fixed-term contract or permanent contract. (subject to eligibility)
Partnerships with local bike shops ensure discounts and on-site service collections are available to all staff.
Electric charging points are available on-site and the School is committed to increasing these in the coming years.

Employee Loan Scheme

The School offers an interest-free loan scheme to permanent members of the Common Room (subject to eligibility).

Sabbaticals

Many members of the Hampton Common Room benefit from taking a sabbatical while working with the School. Sabbaticals are available to all Hampton School teaching and support staff, subject to the terms of the Sabbatical Policy in place at the time of application.

Situated in one of the most sought-after locations in the London area, you are in easy reach of two royal parks, the River Thames, and the pretty towns of Kingston, Teddington, and Richmond Upon Thames. Excellent transport links connect you to the cultural riches of central London or, in the other direction, the beautiful Surrey Hills and the South Coast. An endless choice of places to visit includes Hampton Court Palace, Wimbledon, and Kew Gardens.

We are fortunate to be able to offer high quality staff accommodation for a number of colleagues. Located close by in beautiful period properties, the single-occupancy rooms, which are maintained by our professional maintenance team, are superbly appointed.

Hampton's staff accommodation offers excellent value for money, is in walking distance of the School and is perfectly suited for colleagues relocating into the local area.

Hampton is fortunate to have over 27 acres of playing fields within our spacious grounds and pupils and staff benefit from first-class facilities across all areas of School life. These include a state-of-the-art 3G sports ground, a large Sports Hall and The Hammond Theatre. The Millennium Boat House, shared with our neighbouring girls’ school, Lady Eleanor Holles, enjoys a prime location on the nearby River Thames.

Adnan Ebrahim was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2020. He set up the motor enthusiast website Car Throttle while studying Economics at UCL and has now founded a mental health app called MindLabs.

Hampton football legend Josh currently plays for Fulham FC and made his Premier League debut in 2024. Josh’s talent was clear for all to see as he progressed through school, most memorably scoring an electric solo goal to help Hampton win the prestigious ESFA cup.

Dr Danny worked as medical coordinator for Médecins du Monde during the Syrian refugee crisis and supported the Rohingya population in Myanmar. Daniel joined the King’s College Sierra Leone Partnership in 2014 helping to care for over 1,100 Ebola patients. He is now Country Director for the partnership.

Adam Hunt presents for Sky Sports, Amazon Prime and the Premier League. In recent years, Adam has covered Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup football for Fox Sports, reaching millions of homes across North America and Asia. He hosted Absolute Radio’s NFL coverage every Sunday night, covered cycling at the London Olympics in 2012 and has reported live from Wimbledon and The Open for IMG Media.

Whilst still at school, Dom broke the U18 Lightweight 5000 metre Indoor Rowing record – achieving the distance in 16 minutes, 43.2 seconds (1.2 seconds faster than the previous record holder), and his incredible talent eventually led to his being called up to row for Team GB whilst at university. Since graduating from Newcastle University in Biology and Psychology, he runs his own elite sports coaching business – Bespoke Coach – and Dom has become one of the most prominent bike riders in the UK, claiming a stunning victory in the Rás Tailteann, Ireland’s fiercely competitive premier stage race in 2024.

Sir Brian May is a founding member of one of the UK’s most successful bands, Queen, a world-renowned guitarist, songwriter, producer and performer, a Doctor of Astrophysics, and a passionate advocate and campaigner for animal rights. After writing 22 hits for Queen, Brian returned to his studies graduating with a PhD in Astrophysics in 2007.
