Houston, Texas — December 11, 2024 — Speedcast, a leading communications and IT services provider, today announced that the World Teleport Association (WTA) has issued new Full Certifications to four Speedcast teleports in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Perth, Western Australia; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands. Issued in rapid sequence following audits by WTA experts, the new Certifications bring Speedcast’s total number of certified teleports to nine – the most of any company.
Previous Certifications announced by WTA include Speedcast teleports in Singapore; Miami, Florida; Macaé, Brazil; Lima, Peru; and Adelaide, Australia. The four new Certifications signify that nine of Speedcast’s 19 ground segment operations have been certified at one of the two highest tiers of the Certification program.
“WTA Certification has validated the quality of Speedcast’s services, including redundancy, available systems, and operational processes for ensuring an exceptional user experience,” said Will Mudge, EVP & Chief Technology Officer at Speedcast. “The rigorous process culminating in a detailed audit is critical to affirm the integrity of Speedcast’s service offering – assessing all facets of our value proposition from facilities to technology, security and operating procedures. The additions of our latest Certifications represent part of a dedicated, ongoing effort to ensure that Speedcast delivers best-in-class services for customers, with global infrastructure in place to support client operations.”
WTA’s Certification program provides transparent, independently verified standards as a means for teleports to differentiate themselves and for customers to choose the price-performance level suitable for their applications. Since its introduction in 2016, the program has gained rapid adoption by the industry, with more than 60 teleports Certified around the world.

Certification is issued on a Provisional (self-reported) basis after completion of a +170-item questionnaire that is evaluated against standards developed by WTA’s Certification Committee.  The teleport then has six months to achieve Full Certification. To achieve Full Certification under WTA’s program, an auditor is dispatched to visit the teleport, provide independent validation of the data submitted in the questionnaire, and identify additional factors that may positively or negatively affect the score. Full Certification is issued at a Tier number from 1 through 4, of which 4 represents the highest degree of excellence, and remains in effect for 3 years.

It has evolved into much more than that, and it’s a privilege to be able to validate Speedcast’s high quality of service and commitment to excellence in its operations, proven through its achievement of these certifications.”
