Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Jewelry, Luxury & High-End Goods
Generic Claims: timeless elegance, exquisite craftsmanship, luxury you deserve, the finest materials…
Red Flags: diamond or gemstone claims without certification body, no hallmarking information, ethical sourcing claims without documentation, luxury pricing with no verifiable material quality…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage shows high-end pieces but pricing reveals costume jewellery, claims handcrafted but product descriptions suggest mass production, claims ethically sourced but no supply chain details, luxury positioning but products available on wholesale platforms…
Proof Expectations: gemstone certification details (GIA, AGS, HRD), hallmarking and assay information, specific metal purity and provenance, named craftspeople or atelier details…

Maximilian Büsser broke the chains and standards to initiate a rebellion called MB&F (Maximilan Büsser & Friends) with independent watchmakers: they are the friends. MB&F turns traditional watchmaking into creative timekeeping Machines. These are Machines that tell the time, rather than Machines to tell the time.

At MB&F we love to create Machines. Whether it’s MB&F’s Horological Machines, Legacy Machines and Special Projects, which reinterpret fine watchmaking into kinetic, 3-dimensional sculptures for the wrist. Or the Co-Creations: table clocks, music boxes and other forms of mechanical art born from collaborations with partners. And also our parallel, more accessible label of wristwatches: M.A.D.Editions – they’re all Machines!

MB&F has always been about Friends – it runs so deep that it’s part of our name, “Maximilian Büsser & Friends”. The Friends are many and diverse: manufacturers, designers and watchmakers we love and admire. In addition to these essential partners, another community is just as important: the owners of MB&F Machines known as “The Tribe”.

To Maximilian Büsser, founder of MB&F, watchmaking is art, but most of all, it's a mindset, a journey. This constituted the base for the Tales from the Tribe podcast, offering a wonderful perspective on life, challenges and accomplishments in conversation with very special guests.

Started as an experimental side project to thank MB&F's Friends and Tribe Members, M.A.D.Editions now stands on its own two feet - offering the same level of creativity at a more accessible price point - and welcoming a wider group of aficionados to our creative community.Already during the inception of MB&F, nearly two decades ago, Maximilian Büsser had an idea for a parallel watch brand at a more affordable price point. The project was a bit mad; at the time, his attention was naturally focused on MB&F. The concept never left him, however, bubbling away in the back of his mind. In 2020, the project resurfaced.Between 2020 and mid-2021, the MB&F team fine-tuned and finalised the design – and invested into the manufacturing of a few hundred pieces. The timepiece would be as creative as everything else MB&F had developed, only at a much more affordable price. It could clearly not carry the MB&F name; to keep the price accessible, the engineering, complexity and finishing would obviously not be in the same league as MB&F’s Horological and Legacy Machines. The team chose M.A.D.Editions, linking the watch to the mechanical art universe of the brand’s M.A.D.Galleries.Never miss a raffle! Enter your email to stay updated and hear about the latest news from M.A.D.Editions.If the M.A.D.1 broke the rules, the M.A.D.2 spins a different story. Born from the mind of Eric Giroud – designer, rebel, and longtime MB&F Friend – this timepiece is a love letter to the wild, electrifying spirit of 1990s club culture; it’s the second act in a saga that started with an unexpected hit.

Choosing the fairest way possible to allocate the M.A.D.Editions has been the subject of endless hours of internal debate at MB&F. The team felt that the usual systems – including drops, queuing endlessly at retail outlets, or never-ending waiting lists – were extremely frustrating for customers. It was decided that raffles were the fairest way: they give everyone a fair chance and ample time to register. To be notified when the next raffle opens, click on the button “RAFFLES” below. RAFFLESRewind to 2014. Max had a new idea brewing—not for collectors or connoisseurs, but for his family and friends. The people he loved couldn’t afford an MB&F watch, and it gnawed at him. How could they experience the magic of wearing one of his creations if the price tag kept them out?

With Legacy Machine Perpetual, MB&F and independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell have reinvented one of the most complex traditional watchmaking complications: the perpetual calendar. The result is Legacy Machine Perpetual, featuring a visually stunning in-house movement, developed from the ground up to eliminate the drawbacks of conventional perpetual calendars. The 581-component, fully integrated and purpose-built movement of Legacy Machine Perpetual has been designed for user-friendly and trouble-free use: thanks to an innovative “mechanical processor”, no more skipping dates or jamming gears, and the adjuster pushers automatically deactivate when the calendar changes, so no problems there either.A mechanical processor, a 3-dimensional architecture and a perpetual calendar - all that one could need.
[H5] MECHANICAL PROCESSOR
The revolutionary mechanical processor uses a default 28-day month and adds extra days as required. There is no "skipping over" redundant days, so the result is a fool-proof system that auto-protects itself from incorrect manipulation.
[H5] 3-DIMENSIONAL ARCHITECTURE
The 14mm balance wheel and indication dials hover above the movement, offering a perfect view into the 581 components of the complex mechanism.
[H5] PERPETUAL CALENDAR
Hours, minutes, day, date, month, and leap year can be set independently by manually pressing the correctors. No need for special tools or complicated date setting!A very limited new Chromatic series featuring colourful bezels set with baguette-cut red rubies, blue sapphires and purple sapphires joins the LM Perpetual collection. The first two editions are crafted in 18k white gold and feature bezels set with either blue or purple sapphires, sourced from Madagascar and Sri Lanka. The third edition is crafted in 18k red gold and features a bezel set with red rubies from Mozambique. Each bezel is traced by an elegant line of 48 baguette-cut gemstones, all set by hand by the skilled team at the brand’s long-term Friend STG Creation in Geneva — a perfect frame for the complex perpetual calendar calibre, achieved without increasing the diameter of the case. For additional information, visit our Media CenterComplexity made easy.

2025 marks the 20th Anniversary of an adventure that started in 2005 when Maximilian Büsser started putting together a network of “Friends”, on the basis of a drawing that we know now as Horological Machine No.1.The LM Perpetual Longhorn contains MB&F’s GPHG award-winning perpetual calendar first released in 2015. Created in collaboration with independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, it relies on a ground-breaking “mechanical processor” which avoids skipping dates and jamming gears as the adjuster pushers automatically deactivate when the calendar changes. In this anniversary edition of 20 pieces, McDonnell’s visually stunning in-house movement takes on a whole new aesthetic with the addition of long horns and the black, silver and blue colourway. The perpetual calendar is one of the great traditional complications, calculating the apparently random complexity of the varying numbers of days in each month − including the 29 days in February during leap years. But traditional perpetual calendars do have a few drawbacks: dates can skip; they are relatively easy to damage if adjusted while the date is changing; and the complications are usually compromises of modules powered by base movements.LM Perpetual features a fully integrated 581-component calibre − no module, no base movement − with a revolutionary new system for calculating the number of days in each month. And it holistically reinterprets the aesthetics of the perpetual calendar by placing the full complication on dial-free display underneath a spectacular suspended balance.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Implement Organization and Person JSON-LD schema to formally link Maximilian Büsser and Stephen McDonnell to the brand. Include direct outbound links to the GPHG award pages to verify the ‘award-winning’ claims externally. Add a dedicated ‘Provenance’ section to product pages detailing the specific source or ethical certifications of the gemstones (e.g., Mozambique rubies) mentioned. Reduce the repetition of the ‘Machines’ concept in H2 tags to further increase heading-level information density.

The site fits perfectly within the high-end luxury goods and horology sector. Its content focuses on kinetic art and complex watchmaking, moving beyond traditional jewelry into high-value mechanical engineering.

“The score of 9 is driven primarily by technical transparency and a total lack of semantic drift. Minor points were awarded only for missing structured data (schema_json) and a small amount of conceptual repetition regarding the 'Machines' value proposition.”
