"I just wanted to email to say a big thankyou to the team at Wombwell and Barnsley. I took my cat to you for over ten years and each visit was easy. Leia's vet, Brian, was amazing with her and really did everything he could for her.
I recently lost Leia and it's the first time I've had to cancel insurance, have a pet cremated etc and every person I came into contact with were so kind and loving. It really helped me during such a vulnerable time. I collected Leia's ashes today, and I don't know what I was expecting, but you guys really went above and beyond for her. Her casket is beautiful, the little note that came with it and the beautiful forget me not bag. I know you will have treated her with respect and love, that means everything to me and I cannot thank or praise the team enough, especially the reception staff. They could tell how upset I was and gave me whatever time I needed.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Abbey Vets, Wombwell.
Bobby my 8 year old Chorkie went for his routine booster vaccination and during this Brian advised it would probably better for Bobby to have a fatty lump removed on his left hand side which was getting bigger and at the same time to remove one of his teeth and have dental.work carried out whilst under. I'd been putting this of for ages.
Rachel and Eve on reception answered all my questions that I had as well as the pre op forms for me to fill out.
This Wednesday 18th October 23 I took Bobby to Abbey Vets at 10am for his trip to the Hospital for his procedure. I was nervous for him because he is only a small dog and I know all operations carry a risk but was reassured by Rachel on Reception.
Eve was the nurse who talked me through what was going to happen during this procedure and who would be taking care of him whilst at the hospital, Eve asked if I would like a phone call when he was in recovery which I said yes to.
It was a very strange day without Bobby being with me but at 2:25pm Eve phoned me and greeted me with a very happy voice telling me everything had gone well with the operation and I could pick him up as planned at 4:30pm.
I attend Abbey Vets at the time arranged and Eve took me into the side room and explained the post operation routine for Bobby which was very thorough and explained that Bobby had 7 teeth extracted not the 1 as planned.
I also received a telephone call from Eve yesterday asking how Bobby was. I said he was great, earing and drinking as normal and didn't seemed bothered at all, he's got a check up today by Eve and then his stitches removed next Week.
A very very big thank you to all at Abbey Vets Wombwell and not forgetting the surgical team in Barnsley. Thank you for looking after Bobby and keeping me well informed about the pre and post operation procedure.
This is the best Vets by far that I have been to, thank you once again."

"We are registered at High Green. Visited today for an annual health check with both my dogs. We usually see John. Today it was Cat (Catalina). My boy is very nervous and usually has to wear a muzzle with John.
Today, Cat was so very patient and gave Wolfy time. She was very gentle and he liked her. No muzzle and she got to his ears which he doesn't like being touched. She said, he had a bit of an ear infection, which I suspected. I have explained to John before (when I took my other dog a while ago) that I suspected it, but obviously without seeing his ears he couldn't say. I said, I didn't want to bring him and get him stressed so I said I would monitor and see if it got worse.
No fault of John at all, however I just wanted to officially thank Cat for today, she was amazing with my boy. Also, I wanted to say how good Steph is as well, she is brilliant and so efficient. Please can you pass this on to them both."

We felt we must write to you direct to tell you how wonderful your Staff have been whilst caring for Snickett (Snix) . She had a major incident whilst we were travelling back from VetsNow where she had been overnight .
She was fine when we picked her up but on our way home she found it difficult to breathe and was foaming at the mouth and gasping for breath her tongue went blue . We contacted Barnsley main surgery as it was a Saturday and told them we were on our way .
As you can imagine we were distraught but as soon as we got there the Nurse Rebecca was waiting for us and took Snix straight upstairs to Chloe the Vet .
As you can imagine we were distraught but your Staff were absolutely amazing .
Chloe saw us and explained the situation and that Snix still didn’t look good but we needed to wait and see how she responded to treatment .
Throughout this difficult time we were kept up to date by the Vets and the Nurses , caring for her day and night , which we found very reassuring .
Fortunately for Snix and ourselves we had a positive outcome and Snix was allowed home the next day by Natalie ,the Vet, who explained everything to us and that we needed to continue her medication with close follow up . She also needed further investigations on her heart and lungs once her medication was completed.
We cannot thank your Staff enough for their quick actions when we first brought her in as she looked awful and we thought she was going to die . They kept us informed throughout the whole process and were professional , knowledgeable and friendly . We believe Snix would not be here now without the immediate emergency care they provided and the excellent after care which is not yet completed .
The Staff on reception were also amazing, helpful and supportive keeping us informed whilst the emergency treatment was being administered. Also we must mention the Vets and reception Staff at the Hoyland Branch who ,as usual, did everything they could to fit in appointments for her aftercare around our availability as she doesn’t travel well and it’s easier for reviews there as it’s only 5 minutes away .
Throughout her treatment she has received excellent care and for that we cannot tell you how much that means to us . Whist we still have scans and X-rays to do we do not believe Snix would be here without your Staff’s expertise and excellent care .
We know this is not a one off as approximately 6 years ago old our old Staffie had an intussusception and he also received excellent care which saved his life .
Please would you be kind enough to thank everyone involved in Snix’s care and tell them how grateful we are and we can’t praise them enough.

Wouldn’t it be great to find a friendly and reputable veterinary practice just a stone’s throw from your home? If you live in Hoyland or the surrounding area then you’re in luck, as professional care is indeed just around the corner.
Abbey Vets Hoyland Centre was established 30 years ago and was the first branch surgery to open after the main centre in Barnsley. The surgery is open 5 days a week, from Monday to Friday.
Based at 1 West Street, the Hoyland Centre is bright, clean and fully air conditioned to keep your best friend as comfortable as possible in their surroundings. The centre can also offer all the treatments your pet could possible require.
Whether it’s time for your pet’s booster vaccination, or you just want some advice about another aspect of their health, a short trip to our surgery could improve your pet’s health and help put your mind at ease.
[H2] Who will you be speaking to?
Here at Abbey Vets Hoyland Centre, our two resident vets – Rachel McMaster and Carmen Segovia – work alternate days. They are both highly experienced and love what they do. Rachel McMaster and Carmen are supported by our two cheerful and friendly receptionists Tracey and Steph supported by Veterinary Nurse Loren. Find out more about the team below.

The surgery is open Monday to Friday at the times shown below. If you wish to speak to the office staff, make an appointment, or have a non-emergency question for one of the vets please call during these hours.

We are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year and pride ourselves in providing an out of hours service to the local area using our own staff. In the event of an out of hours emergency please call the following number: 01226 242 217

The surgery is closed on bank holidays, Christmas day, New Years day, Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive.
