[H2] Adopt An Animal From Us

Adopting from Animal Care

To ensure each animal is rehomed with someone who meets their needs, we run on an appointment only basis. We want all the animals in our care to find their perfect home. For that to happen, we have to consider their needs as well as yours.
How to adopt an animal from Animal Care
Visit the centre any day between 10 and 3 to complete an application form and have a chat with the staff about what you are looking for - you don’t need to make an appointment at this stage. Please note you won’t be able to view the animals on the same day, as the animal manager has to review all the applications first, but if there are any animals you are particularly interested in you can let us know at this stage. It will no longer be possible to do applications over the phone.
The manager will review your application and if she feels you are a good match for a dog/cat you will be invited to make an appointment to come and meet it.
CATS:
You will be given the opportunity to meet the cat and spend time with it. If you decide it’s the right cat for you, you will be able to reserve it.
A home checker will then visit you at home to check your house is right for the cat you are interested in.
We ask a minimum donation of £75 for your cat to offset some of the costs we pay, as they are all vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, wormed and defleaed. If they haven’t had everything done when you adopt them – sometimes they will need a second vaccination, or are too young to be neutered - you will be provided with a voucher from Bay Vets.
DOGS:
You will be given the opportunity to walk the dog and spend time with it. If you decide it’s the right dog for you, you will be able to reserve it.
We ask that adopters come and visit the dog 3 times promptly within a 5-7 day period. This is so you can bond with the dog and it’s not going home with a stranger.
A home checker will then visit you at home to check your garden/yard is secure for the dog you are interested in.
You will then take your dog home for a week’s trial and if you are happy with the way the trial works out, you can adopt the dog at the end of the week.
We ask a minimum donation of £150 for your dog to offset some of the costs we pay, as they are all vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, wormed and defleaed. If they haven’t had everything done when you adopt them – sometimes they will need a second vaccination, or are too young to be neutered - you will be provided with a voucher from Bay Vets.
Please note we can receive dozens of applications for the same cats & dogs. If you haven’t heard from us within 7 days of applying, we’re sorry to say your application has been unsuccessful this time.

If you would like more information about a certain animal in our care please email rehoming@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk
Please note the animals are not available to view without an appointment.

[H2] Surrendering an Animal

Surrendering your animal to Animal Care

If your pet needs to find a new home, please contact us as early as possible after a decision is made. You will need to contact the centre directly via email:
rehoming@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk

When you email us please make sure you include the following information:
Breed/ age/ sex/ date of last vaccination/ date of neutering/ likes & dislikes/ the reason you can no longer keep your animal and a up to date photo of your animal.

Please be aware that our centre is ALWAYS at full capacity. We might not be able to take your animal immediately and your details may be placed on a waiting list. We do treat each case individually, but please be aware that we may not be able to take your animal in immediately. Emergency's and RSPCA cases may take priority.

We will endeavour to help every animal that we can; however there might be times when we are unable to accept an animal for rehoming.

A good temperament is important as we want dogs to share kennels wherever possible. This helps to maximise the numbers of dogs that can be saved. Dog's with temperament problems will also need to spend longer at our centre whilst they receive training. The longer they stay, the fewer dogs we are able to save.
We do however have contacts that we would be happy to pass your details to if we are unable to help.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Immediately implement Charity and LocalBusiness schema to ground the organization’s identity in structured data. Populate the ‘About Us’ page with the charity’s history and named leadership to close the authority gap. Add the ‘Animal Manager’s’ name and professional background to the adoption process description. Include outbound links to the charity’s official registration or third-party review platforms to provide a clear proof path.

The site perfectly aligns with the Pets and Animal Services industry, specifically operating as a rescue and rehoming charity. The content focuses entirely on the logistics of animal adoption, surrendering, and charity operations rather than commercial veterinary services.

“The score of 23 is driven primarily by technical gaps and thin content on key pages rather than active deception. The Identity and Authority pillar (10) and Information Density (8) represent the bulk of the score due to the lack of schema and empty 'About' sections. The site's core service pages are actually models of high-substance communication.”
