Through this organization, I’m proud that my art and the art of many of my respected fellow artists is part of The Art of Saving Democracy: An Action Kit for Making Change! It features a handbook for action, postcards, stickers and conversations starters that can empower people to take the steps they need to protect democracy. I will be speaking with Lara Bergthold at The Ebell of Los Angeles Wednesday, June 10th about this new tool of empowerment and more. Tickets are available HERE. I hope to see you there!-Shepard [IMG: PFAW-The-Art-of-Saving-Democracy-shepardfairey] The Art of Saving Democracy: An Action Kit for Making Change is now available for pre-order and will be in bookstores June 2nd as a celebration of America’s founding ideals and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July. SUB-PAGE (https://obeygiant.com/propaganda/manifesto/) Manifesto – Obey Giant
Manifesto Articles Essays Videos [H2] Manufacturing Quality Dissent Since 1989 The OBEY sticker campaign can be explained as an experiment in Phenomenology. Heidegger describes Phenomenology as “the process of letting things manifest themselves.” Phenomenology attempts to enable people to see clearly something that is right before their eyes but obscured; things that are so taken for granted that they are muted by abstract observation. The first aim of phenomenology is to reawaken a sense of wonder about one’s environment. The obey sticker attempts to stimulate curiosity and bring people to question both the sticker and their relationship with their surroundings. Because people are not used to seeing advertisements or propaganda for which the product or motive is not obvious, frequent and novel encounters with the sticker provoke thought and possible frustration, nevertheless revitalizing the viewer’s perception and attention to detail. The sticker has no meaning but exists only to cause people to react, to contemplate and search for meaning in the sticker. Because OBEY has no actual meaning, the various reactions and interpretations of those who view it reflect their personality and the nature of their sensibilities. Many people who are familiar with the sticker find the image itself amusing, recognizing it as nonsensical, and are able to derive straightforward visual pleasure without burdening themselves with an explanation. The PARANOID OR CONSERVATIVE VIEWER however may be confused by the sticker’s persistent presence and condemn it as an underground cult with subversive intentions. Many stickers have been peeled down by people who were annoyed by them, considering them an eye sore and an act of petty vandalism, which is ironic considering the number of commercial graphic images everyone in American society is assaulted with daily. Another phenomenon the sticker has brought to light is the trendy and CONSPICUOUSLY CONSUMPTIVE nature of many members of society. For those who have been surrounded by the sticker, its familiarity and cultural resonance is comforting and owning a sticker provides a souvenir or keepsake, a memento. People have often demanded the sticker merely because they have seen it everywhere and possessing a sticker provides a sense of belonging. The Giant sticker seems mostly to be embraced by those who are (or at least want to seem to be) rebellious. Even though these people may not know the meaning of the sticker, they enjoy its slightly disruptive underground quality and wish to contribute to the furthering of its humorous and absurd presence which seems to somehow be antiestablishment/societal convention. Giant stickers are both embraced and rejected, the reason behind which, upon examination reflects the psyche of the viewer. Whether the reaction be positive or negative, the stickers existence is worthy as long as it causes people to consider the details and meanings of their surroundings. In the name of fun and observation. – Shepard Fairey, 1990
SUB-PAGE (https://obeygiant.com/engineering/warnings/) Warnings – Obey Giant
Warnings Bootlegs Downloads Sightings [H2] A note from Shepard Please use common sense and consideration when applying stickers or other propaganda materials. Giant is designed to provoke thought about the mechanics of the system we live in…not to destroy it. Everyone has to live here. Plus there are extreme individuals who wish to label all street artists as vandals and push for harsher and harsher penalties and prosecution. These people are very organized and lobby for public support. To counteract their attempts to vilify street artist, the street artist community needs to befriend local arts councils, graphic arts organizations, and anyone and everyone with political power who could be sympathetic to artists who have no sanctioned public venue to express themselves. The cities build tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields, even skate parks at millions of dollars cost to the tax payer. Where are the public mural walls? It’s all about control of the public space. If the opponents of street art are the only ones who speak out then they will be the only ones who are listened to. We need to fight fire with fire and express ourselves intelligently. If we don’t come across as a bunch of vandals we may find that the silent majority is actually supportive of public artistic expression. Check out the following letter to see where they are coming from. -Shepard

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 1426 businesses audited.
Obey Giant has 22.3 points less BS than the average for Arts, Culture & Entertainment.
Arts, Culture & Entertainment BS: Obey Giant (obeygiant.com)
Obey Giant is a benchmark for low-bullshit artistic positioning, trading performative marketing for structural philosophical depth. It backs its ‘Propaganda’ claims with 30 years of dated historical evidence and specific geographical data points. The only negligible flaws are technical schema omissions and a slight reliance on stale sightings data.
Refresh the ‘Sightings’ gallery with mural evidence from the 2025-2026 period to eliminate the ‘aging evidence’ penalty. Add Person schema for Shepard Fairey to the JSON-LD to formally link the artist’s digital footprint to the brand organization. Integrate third-party review widgets or direct links to verify the 5-star ratings currently obscured in the schema data. Refine the heading hierarchy on the Engineering pages to follow a more standard H1-H2-H3 logical sequence.
The site perfectly aligns with the Arts, Culture & Entertainment category, functioning as a high-substance digital archive and gallery for Shepard Fairey’s work. The content confirms this through specific project descriptions, such as the ‘Action Kit for Making Change,’ which fulfills the ‘cultural programming’ and ‘audience engagement’ criteria of the industry.
“The score of 10 represents a high-substance profile with minimal bullshit. The primary drivers of the remaining 10 points are the 'Trust and Proof' pillar, due to the aging status of sighting dates (2024) relative to the 2026 anchor, and the 'Identity' pillar's lack of Person-specific structured data.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from Obey Giant, captured on May 25, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
Purpose: This data is presented under “Fair Use” / “Educational Exception” for the purpose of forensic semantic analysis, allowing users to compare human intuition against machine-generated evaluations.

The results provided by 1EuroSEO are intended as professional feedback to help improve any website’s machine-readability and authority signals.
