[H2] History
The Frungillo family has been serving communities in New Jersey since Alfred and Jerry Frungillo immigrated from Avellino, Italy in the 1920’s opening a market at 105 Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark, with their sister Anna Frungillo and her husband Fred Finelli.
The store expanded to another location, 63 6th Ave in Newark in the early 1930’s and remained in business as Finelli’s Grocery until 1970. The key ingredient to its success was the Frungillo and Finelli families working side by side, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week with a mission to serve the local community.
In 1972, Alfred Frungillo founded Frungillo Caterers in Bloomfield NJ. Frungillo Caterers continues to operate today and has become the largest off premise catering company in the greater metropolitan area.
In 1981, Alfred Frungillo founded Michael Anthony’s Restaurant and Caterers in Verona, NJ. Then in 1985 Alfred Frungillo took a job as Food Service Director for Service America Group at Seton Hall University. Through the relationships he build working there, Seton Hall University asked Al to take over the operations and Gourmet Dining was Founded in 1987.
Over the next 27 years Al, his partner Ben Aiello and Al’s sons Michael and Anthony expanded the business in the NJ higher education marketplace.
In February of 2014, Gourmet aligned with Compass Group supporting our approach to campus dining with the backing of Compass Group, the largest food service provider in the world. Today, Michael and Anthony Frungillo manage their family business.

[H2] COMMUNITIES
We believe it’s our responsibility to support the local communities in which we live and work, implementing programs that promote sustainability, support local businesses and help those most in need. We do this by partnering with local and regional farms for fresh seasonal produce, meats, seafood, fair-trade coffees and teas, and much more. Through our partnerships with local restaurants, we broaden student dining options with our meal exchange program, while boosting their customer base. We take extra measures to reduce waste in our dining facilities by recycling packaging and fryer oil, composting leftover scraps and providing reusable to-go containers. We’re also addressing food insecurity in our communities through programs like Meals on Wheels and on campuses through annual donations to student food pantries, emergency meal plan swipes and volunteer-to-pay programs.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

33 BS / 100

Gourmet Dining, LLC is a legitimate, high-revenue operation suffering from a ‘frozen-in-time’ digital presence. While the company provides hard evidence of its massive scale and impressive client roster, the lack of modern proof and technical schema creates a credibility lag. It is a substantive family business hidden behind a slightly dusty, mid-2010s marketing facade.

Immediately implement Organization and Person schema to bridge the technical authority gap. Update the News section with results or awards from the last 24 months to eliminate the ‘stale content’ penalty. Provide a verifiable data point or methodology for the 100% retention claim to increase its believability. Correct the non-standard capitalization in headings like ‘ExperiencE’ and ‘OneonONe’ to improve professional signal.

The site provides a high-fidelity match for the food service management sector within higher education. The content explicitly addresses campus-specific needs, such as meal plans, student food pantries, and partnerships with universities like Rutgers and Seton Hall.

“The score of 33 is driven largely by technical neglect (Identity and Authority) and stale evidence (Trust and Proof). The site's Information Density score is exceptionally low (good) because of the granular university timeline, which provides more substance than 90% of B2B service sites. If the news were current and schema was present, this site would likely score below 15.”
