[H1] Web Accessibility Statement Trinity College is committed to providing web pages that are universally accessible to all users. To this end, new Trinity websites meet a minimum of W3C Level 2 compliance in line with the Web Accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.0). Websites that are designed by and in conjunction with the Digital and Web unit are tested and validated in line with these standards. Please contact Digital at digital@tcd.ie if you have any issues with accessing the information on our website or if you wish to provide any feedback or comments with regard to Web Accessibility for the Trinity College website. When websites are correctly designed, developed, and edited, all users can have equal access to the sites' information, functionality, and benefits. Trinity aims to make our websites accessible and usable for people of all abilities and disabilities. Many people use assistive technologies to allow them, for example, to view websites in easier-to-read colours, with larger fonts or as spoken text, or to navigate around a site using the keyboard only. The following items have been prioritised to assist with consistency and accessibility i.e. Consistent Trinity Header and Footer navigation Navigation - Website navigation is coded as lists to ensure that all menu navigation can be read by screen readers The first link on a Trinity web page is a hidden link called "Skip to main content ". By pressing enter on this link, the screen reader will skip directly to the main page content. Many web pages include a "Back to Top" link(s). Pressing enter on these links will take the user back to the main content. Heading elements (H1, H2, H3), etc. are used extensively throughout the website along with skip links and back-to-top links. Tables – Data tables include summary attributes and are coded using Row and Column titles. It is recommended not to use tables for layout purposes. Images - All images are coded to use an ALT attribute or LONGDESC attribute. Blank alt attributes are used for decorative images such as bulleted-list images, spacer images, etc. Font-sizing and Stylesheets – Content and presentation are separate with presentation being controlled by Stylesheets. The default font is set to sans-serif for main webpage content and fonts can be resized in each browser using CTRL +/- in Firefox and View, Text Size in IE (the method is dependent on the browser version). Forms - All forms are coded where labels are explicitly linked to the relevant input field [H2] Using your browser The following are some tips on getting the most from your browser (note the following may not work in all browsers) Open a new Tab – Hold down CTRL and click on a link Open a new Window – Hold down SHIFT and click on a link Increase Font Size – Hold down CTRL and press + Decrease Font Size - Hold down CTRL and press – Reset font size – Hold down CTRL and press 0 [H2] Accessibility Feedback We continue to make further improvements and enhancements to our website accessibility features and value your feedback. 🔗 Identity & Technical Layer — schema JSON-LD: identity chains, entity gaps (Identity & Authority)
Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Education, Schools & Universities BS: Trinity College Dublin (www.tcd.ie)
Trinity College Dublin is a high-substance institution that manages to avoid the ‘degree mill’ fluff trap by flooding its interface with current, dated research and news. Its low BS score reflects a site where the ‘Signal’ of being a world-class university is consistently proven by the ‘Substance’ of its ongoing projects and partnerships. The only air on the site is the standard institutional self-importance expected from a 400-year-old brand.
Implement structured data (JSON-LD) across the research and faculty pages to link named experts to their verifiable digital footprints. Replace generic headings like H1 ‘Home’ on the research page with descriptive, keyword-rich titles that reflect the department’s specific authority. Quantify the ‘extraordinary generosity’ mentioned on the Alumni page with a few key impact metrics (e.g., number of students funded this year) to move from emotional fluff to hard substance. Ensure all ‘review_count’ metadata is linked to visible, third-party verified platforms to eliminate minor trust theatre flags.
The site content perfectly aligns with the Higher Education and Research category. It features core academic components including undergraduate study, strategic institutional planning, advanced research outputs, and alumni development.
“The score of 22 is driven primarily by the high information density and lack of semantic drift. Points were only lost in the Commodity Fingerprint pillar due to standard academic jargon and the Identity pillar due to the absence of technical schema markup. The currency of news (within 72 hours of the analysis date) significantly bolstered the credibility of the proof points.”
