Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Energy, Utilities & Environmental Services
Generic Claims: powering a sustainable future, saving the planet, affordable green energy, leading the energy transition…
Red Flags: no regulatory license number displayed, green claims without fuel mix disclosure, net zero claims without reduction pathway, carbon offset only strategy presented as carbon neutral…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims 100% renewable but tariff page shows mixed sources, green branding everywhere but sustainability report shows minimal renewable share, claims affordable but pricing is above market average, net zero commitment on homepage but no carbon reduction timeline…
Proof Expectations: Ofgem or regulatory license number, published fuel mix disclosure, specific carbon reduction targets with timelines, third-party sustainability certifications…

[H3] Frequently Asked Questions‍Commercial Solar
Do we need planning permission to install solar panels? In most European countries, including Ireland, planning permission is not required for solar panel installations on commercial rooftops, provided the system meets certain criteria (e.g. not exceeding height limits, not being visible from protected structures, etc.). However, ground-mounted systems or installations in conservation areas may require approval. How long will commercial solar panels last? Our commercial solar panels warranties are typically from 25 to 30 years, with most systems maintaining strong performance beyond that, ensuring long-term peace of mind. We manage the full process from install to ongoing monitoring, operation and maintenance for long term investment protection. How do we determine how many solar panels that we need?We assess your energy consumption, roof or land space, and business goals to calculate the optimal system size. Using a custom energy profile and 3D modelling, our in-house fully qualified solar engineers will design a solution tailored to your operational needs. What is microgeneration? Can we avail of this? Microgeneration refers to the ability to export excess energy back to the grid. This generation will be paid for by your energy provider. Your ability to avail of microgeneration income will be dependent on your system, Activ8 will explore all options with you. What is a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)?A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term contract between a business (the energy buyer) the energy seller, in this case, SSE Airtricity. There is no upfront cost to the business and they agree to purchase the electricity generated at a fixed rate—usually lower than grid prices. Are there solar PV government grants available for businesses?Yes. In Ireland, businesses can avail of SEAI government grants ranging from €2,400 for a 6kWp system to €162,600 for a 1,000kWp system for commercial solar PV installations. Businesses in the UK can avail of Green Loans and Funding Schemes to offset costs.

[H3] Frequently Asked Questions‍Solar PV
How much is the SEAI solar grant? When discussing your Solar PV system with one of our solar experts, we run through the amount relevant to your system size (Up to a max of €1,800). We have always and will continue to always give the amount of the grant off the price of your system, at the point of purchase. We then administer all grant work in Activ8 and retrospectively claim the grant back, in the months following installation. This allows you to avail of the full grant amount up front, rather than waiting months and enduring the process alone. How long will the SEAI grant scheme be available? This is a pilot scheme from SEAI and although we would love to have it forever, it’s impossible to say when the scheme will end or be downgraded. Therefore it is important to state that it is currently a pilot scheme and up for periodic review by the department. Can solar panels heat my water too?You can heat your hot water cylinder by adding a Hot Water Divert to your solar PV system. This will allow you to redirect any excess electricity generated by your solar panels to your immersion and avoid sending the electricity back to the grid. This will help you maximise the efficiency of your solar panels and generate up to 80% of your annual hot water needs. Will I get paid for electricity that goes back into the national grid?As of 2022, the Irish government has announced that homeowners will be paid for the electricity they produce through their solar PV system and export to the grid. This microgeneration scheme will see the homeowner compensated for the electricity by their energy supplier. The rate and form of the *Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) payment (credit or rebate) will be decided upon by the energy provider. Learn more about Microgeneration from our partners SSE Airtricity here: Microgeneration FAQ | SSE Airticity* The measured Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) is the government policy name for the export tariff that all energy suppliers will pay to customers for their solar electricity exported to the grid. The rates will be set by each supplier on a per kWh basis and is intended to reflect the value of the export to the grid. This means your actual export to the grid will be measured and you will be paid accordingly. How long will it take from purchase to installation? When you register your details with us, we will give you a call to organise an appointment with one of our solar consultants. If you decide to go ahead with solar upon our consultants visit, a technical survey will be conducted before any installation and you’ll be consulted by our installations team on available installation dates that suit you.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Integrate Person schema for the ‘in-house qualified solar engineers’ mentioned on the commercial page to anchor technical claims to individual credentials. Provide direct links to the ISO certification registry to move from trust theatre to absolute verification. Include dated performance reports for one of the primary case studies to show real-world yield vs expected 3D modeling.

The website perfectly aligns with the Energy and Renewable Utilities sector, specifically focusing on Solar PV installation for residential and commercial markets. The content is heavily focused on technical deliverables, grant administration, and microgeneration rates relevant to the Irish market.

“The score of 13 is driven primarily by the high information density and lack of semantic drift. Minor points were awarded for template-style 'Why Choose Us' structures and the absence of specific expert digital footprints (Person schema) in the crawl data, but the site remains an industry benchmark for substance.”
