[H3] How long does it take for birth control pills to work?

The length of time it will take for your birth control pills to prevent pregnancy can range from immediately to seven days, depending on the type of contraceptive. After the initial waiting period, birth control pills can be 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken exactly as directed and 93% effective with typical use.

[H3] What medications do Nurx providers prescribe for anxiety and depression?

Your Nurx medical provider will create a personalized treatment plan based on your symptoms and health history. Nurx providers can prescribe a comprehensive selection of mental health treatments including SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, bupropion (generic Wellbutrin), trazodone, and medications that may be used to treat panic attacks. Nurx providers prescribe these treatments according to evidence-based clinical guidelines and based on each patient’s individual symptoms and health history.

Nurx providers can prescribe a range of dermatologist-trusted skincare treatments to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. After reviewing your health history and the photos you shared, a Nurx medical provider will prescribe the best treatment for your skin. If you have used one of a retinoid cream in the past and would like to use it again, please share that information when you make complete your consultation.

[H3] What types of acne treatments do Nurx providers prescribe?

Nurx providers can prescribe several different treatments to target and reduce acne. When you complete your consultation, a Nurx provider will review your medical history and the images of your skin you provide to determine what type of acne you have and the best way to treat it. From there, you can check in with your Nurx provider to update your treatment (to a different strength or formula, when medically appropriate) as your skin adjusts. [H3] How does weight management with Nurx work?

Weight management by Nurx includes an online evaluation by a medical provider licensed in your state, medication prescribed (if medically appropriate) and delivered, regular check-ins, ongoing support from your Nurx provider and care team as well as education and lifestyle support to help you on your weight loss journey.

To start weight management treatment with Nurx, visit the Nurx website or download the Nurx app and fill out a comprehensive online intake, detailing your health history. A trained and licensed member of our medical team will evaluate your health profile and ask any follow up questions in order to confirm that we can safely and appropriately treat you via telehealth. If so, your provider will create a personalized weight management treatment plan that may include injections or oral medications. For best results, we recommend combining your prescribed treatment with a healthy diet and regular physical activity. If you're not currently active, it's a good idea to double check with your primary care provider to ensure that it's safe for you to begin treatment.

Certain medications are fulfilled by our partner pharmacy and mailed directly to your home. You may also opt to pick up certain medications at a local pharmacy if preferred. Branded GLP-1s are not available for shipment via our pharmacy. These medications can be filled at the pharmacy of your choice.

A Nurx medical provider will check in with you about two weeks after treatment begins and ask you questions about how treatment is working and any side effects you may be experiencing. The Nurx provider will provide any support needed and may adjust the treatment plan as necessary. They can also prescribe certain medications to manage side effects if appropriate. In addition, patients may reach out to our medical team at any time with questions or to request a prescription change.

[H3] How much does the program cost?

Consultation
Anyone who requests weight management treatment will be charged a $79 consultation fee. This fee covers a Nurx provider evaluating your information and creating your treatment plan, if medically appropriate. Please note that at this time, we do not submit claims to insurance for the initial medical consult fee.

Medication
If you are prescribed a brand-name GLP-1 pen, pricing typically ranges from $650-1300/month on average for the lowest dose without insurance coverage (ask your local pharmacy to confirm the price). You will pick up and pay for your medication at your local pharmacy.
If you are prescribed oral medication, the cash price for your treatment plan will cost $60-329/month depending on your medications, and you may be able to use insurance. Please connect with your insurance company if you would like to learn more about your copay.

Monthly provider support fee
If you receive weight management treatment from Nurx, you will pay a recurring monthly $79 provider support fee. This fee covers a Nurx provider managing your medication needs. Please note that this fee is not eligible for insurance coverage.

[H3] Who is eligible for weight management with Nurx?

Depending on your medical history and weight loss goals, you may be eligible for our weight management service. Patients with a history of eating disorders, who are pregnant or breastfeeding or have hypersensitivity to specific medications are not eligible.

[H3] Does Nurx accept insurance for weight management?

The care fee is cash pay only, but patients may be able to use their insurance for some weight management medications. Medication cost may vary based on prescribed treatment and applicable insurance coverage, price not guaranteed. Not all insurance plans are accepted. Medications are shipped and billed monthly. Additional costs apply, including consultation, ongoing care, and side effect management.

[H3] What type of weight loss medications do Nurx providers prescribe?

Nurx providers can prescribe oral medications as well as GLP-1 injectables. Oral medications include Naltrexone, Bupropion, Topiramate, and Metformin. Several treatments may be prescribed together for a comprehensive oral medication plan—your Nurx provider will determine which medication plan is medically appropriate.

Nurx providers may prescribe GLP-1 injections, if medically appropriate. Brand-name GLP-1 injection prescriptions are also an option, though these medications must be picked up and paid for at a local pharmacy.

[H3] How much weight can I lose working with Nurx?

While everyone's weight journey is different and the amount of weight loss varies for everyone, most patients taking weight loss medications who follow a healthy diet and regular exercise lose 1-2 pounds per week. We will work with you to find the treatment plan that is best for you and continue to support you throughout your weight loss journey. Individual results may vary.

[H3] What happens if I experience side effects?

To help mitigate any side effects you might experience from these medications, your provider will likely have you start with a low dose of treatment and gradually increase it over time to reach the target dose. If you do experience side effects, your provider can offer personalized guidance and resources to help. They also may prescribe

[H3] How does anxiety and depression treatment with Nurx work?

Whether you suspect you are experiencing depression or anxiety, or have been diagnosed with these conditions in the past, you can request treatment from Nurx any time through our website or app. You’ll answer a comprehensive set of questions similar to the medical consultation you would complete when starting treatment with an in-person mental health professional. Your answers to these questions will allow your Nurx medical provider to evaluate your symptoms, make a diagnosis and (if medically appropriate) create a treatment plan.

Within a few days of submitting your request for treatment, a Nurx medical provider licensed in your state will send a message to your Nurx account to ask any follow up questions or propose a treatment plan. You’ll have the chance to share any information and ask any questions you’d like. Once your medical provider has prescribed treatment our pharmacy can fill your prescription and your medication will arrive in the mail.

Your medical provider will follow up regularly to monitor how your medication is working, and adjust treatment as needed, and you can message them any time with questions or to request adjustments.

Treatment through Nurx costs $59 for the initial consultation and $69 per month for ongoing medication management, which includes a licensed medical provider evaluating your intake assessment, creating and prescribing your treatment plan, and managing your medication needs on an ongoing basis.

We bill insurance for your medication, and copays are as little as $0-$10 per month. The out-of-pocket price for most medication is $25 per month, and shipping is always free.

Your Nurx medical provider will create a personalized treatment plan, if medically appropriate, based on your symptoms and health history.

Nurx prescribes and delivers a comprehensive selection of mental health treatments including SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, and medications that may be used to treat panic attacks.

The Nurx medical team prescribes these treatments according to evidence-based clinical guidelines and based on each patient’s individual symptoms and health history.

[H3] What types of anxiety does Nurx treat?

Nurx medical providers treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder, though our medical team evaluates each patient individually and will only prescribe treatment to patients who they determine can be safely and appropriately cared for through telehealth.

Nurx treats mild to moderate depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder (PMDD). We may also treat patients with stable postpartum depression, if they are already on medication. However, our medical team evaluates each patient individually and will only prescribe treatment to patients who they determine can be safely and appropriately cared for through telehealth.

There isn’t a one-size-fits all treatment for mental health conditions — the medication/s and the dose that work best varies by individual patient and may change for that patient over time. For that reason, you may need to communicate with our medical team regularly at the beginning of your treatment to find a plan that works best for you.* Once your treatment plan is established our medical team will check in throughout the year, to confirm that the treatment is working and adjust if needed. Nurx patients can message the medical team any time to ask questions about their treatment or request prescription adjustments. This ongoing care and unlimited access to our medical team costs $59 for the initial consultation (in addition to the copay or cost of your medication) and $69 per month for ongoing medication management, even if there are months when you don’t communicate with us. Please note that Nurx does not provide therapy or counseling.
