Start the assistant [H2] Simple ways to help improve your Wi-Fi performance The How to optimise your home internet setup video (duration 3:18) shares practical tips on improving your connection, including where to place your Wi-Fi router and how to get better coverage if you live in a larger or multi-storey home. If you don't have one, go to nbn.com.au and enter your address. If it says your home's fibre connection is FTB or FTTN, then your home won't have a box. In that case, connect your Wi-Fi router directly into the wall socket. Otherwise, please contact your internet provider and they'll organise for a new one to be installed. Your Wi-Fi router and nbn box are now connected. Here's a few other things you can check to help you make the most of your nbn connection. [Text on screen] A few other things you can check. Female narrator: Did you know that where you put your router can affect the Wi-Fi signal? To find the best spot, look for an uncluttered location with a clear line of sight to where you use the internet most. [Text on screen] Remember. Remember, don't block it, or put your router next to items that can interfere with Wi-Fi signal, like Bluetooth speakers, a baby monitor, microwave, fridge, even a mirror or fish tank near your router can slow your Wi-Fi. [Text on screen] Bluetooth speakers, baby monitor, microwave, fridge. Now, you're in the perfect position to make the most of your internet. But could your devices be slowing you down? Let's check. [H4] How to check your devices are up to speed? [Text on screen] How to check your devices up to speed. Female narrator: Your older devices still work, but are you getting the most out of them? Because they use outdated Wi-Fi technology, older devices can have slower speeds. [Text on screen] Loading.... Slower. Take, for instance, your Wi-Fi router. As you can see, there have been many generations of routers. [Text on screen] 2009 - Wi-Fi 4, 802.11n; 2013: Wi-Fi 5, 802.11ac; 2019 - Wi-Fi 6, 802.11ax; 2024 - Wi-Fi 7, 802.11be If it's older and you're connecting to newer devices, you might want to contact your internet provider to discuss your setup. Now to make sure you're getting the most out of your connection, there's one last thing. [Text on screen] One last thing. [H4] How to make the most of your connection when it's further from the router [Text on screen] How to make the most of your connection, further from the router. Female narrator: The closer you are to your router, the faster your Wi-Fi will work. So what do you do when you're further away, especially in a larger home or multi-story? We recommend looking into a mesh network, where multiple devices, called nodes, work together to evenly spread Wi-Fi throughout the home. [Text on screen] Talk to your provider for more information. And if you're going to use large amounts of data, like when you're gaming or streaming, you might need more than Wi-Fi. [Text on screen] Talk to a licensed cabler for more information. Connecting with an Ethernet cable could give you a more stable, and faster connection. Okay, that's it! You're now all set up and ready to go. Just don't forget to set a secure Wi-Fi password on your router. [Text on screen] Remember: Your home internet setup is just one part of your overall internet experience. Your experience on the nbn network can also depend on other factors, such as your nbn technology and whether you are using the internet during the busy period. Satellite customers may experience latency and your internet experience could be impacted by signal reception. If you'd like more information, check out nbn.com.au/optimise. Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

IT Services, Hosting & Managed Services BS: nbn co (nbnco.com.au)
A rare example of a high-substance utility site that treats the user as a technical stakeholder rather than a marketing lead. It swaps industry fluff for Ethernet diagrams and Wi-Fi versioning, resulting in one of the lowest BS scores possible for a large-scale organization.
Implement comprehensive Organization and TechnicalService JSON-LD schema to bridge the authority gap. Consolidate the duplicate ‘Build with confidence’ H2 tags on the New Developments page to improve structural hygiene. Provide a direct link to the full Ergo Strategy 2025 methodology to further strengthen the research claims. Define the specific wholesale speed tiers directly on the homepage to reduce the minor friction of clicking through for baseline data.
The site strongly aligns with the IT Services and Managed Infrastructure category, specifically as a national wholesale telecommunications provider. The content focuses on managed network access, infrastructure planning, and technical optimization rather than retail services.
“The score of 18 is driven by the site's high technical density and its role as a utility rather than a reseller. Information Density (7) and Trust (3) are the primary contributors to the score, mainly due to the inherent repetition found in large-scale organizational sites and the minor use of unverified internal review counts. The site successfully avoids the high penalties associated with semantic drift and commodity cliches.”
