Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Medical Devices, Pharma & Biotech
Generic Claims: advancing human health, breakthrough innovation, life-changing therapies, transforming patient outcomes…
Red Flags: FDA cleared used interchangeably with FDA approved, clinical claims without published study citations, breakthrough claims for incremental improvements, regulatory status implied but not specified…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims breakthrough but pipeline page shows preclinical only, FDA approved claims but only for one indication, marketed broadly, claims clinical evidence but links to poster presentations not published studies, claims global reach but regulatory approvals are single-market…
Proof Expectations: specific regulatory clearance numbers (FDA 510(k), CE, TGA), published clinical trial results with ClinicalTrials.gov registration, ISO 13485 and GMP certification details, peer-reviewed publication citations…

[H1] EUCRISA works above and below the skin’s surface
When EUCRISA was approved in 2016, it was the first FDA-approved topical prescription treatment for eczema in over a decade. It is a steroid-free ointment for people with mild-to-moderate eczema and can be used on all skin tones from nose to toes, for adults and
children as young as 3 months old. EUCRISA is for topical use only. Do not use in eyes, mouth, or vagina.
You can see eczema on the surface of your skin, but there may also be irritation below that you can’t see.
EUCRISA works both above and below the skin to treat eczema.
The active ingredient, crisaborole 2%, acts deep within your skin cells to target an enzyme called
PDE4 (phosphodiesterase 4). The specific way EUCRISA works is not well defined.
Crisaborole is combined with our proprietary
Emollient-Rich Vehicle ointment. Ointments contain emollients, which can help lock in moisture and soften the skin.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

38 BS / 100

EUCRISA is a high-substance pharmaceutical site that suffers from technical neglect and template fatigue. While the clinical and financial claims are specific and well-documented, the null schema and ‘corona msg’ artifacts suggest a brand operating on autopilot. It is low on marketing bullshit but moderately high on technical ‘ghost-brand’ indicators.

First, implement comprehensive Drug and Organization schema to link the product to Pfizer’s digital authority and verify regulatory status. Second, replace the ‘corona msg’ and ‘Footer Main menu’ [H2] tags with descriptive, keyword-rich headings that improve information architecture. Third, include direct citations or outbound links to the peer-reviewed studies supporting the PDE4 target and the 2016 clinical trials. Finally, update the site’s technical structure to eliminate the trust_theatre_flag by either linking reviews to a third-party validator or removing the static review count.

The content perfectly matches the Pharma & Biotech category, specifically focusing on a prescription topical treatment (crisaborole) for atopic dermatitis. It adheres to pharmaceutical regulatory norms by including extensive ‘Important Safety Information’ (ISI) and specific ‘Indication’ blocks.

“The score of 38 is driven primarily by technical authority gaps (null schema) and trust theatre flags (unverified reviews). While the content substance is strong (lowering the score), the presence of template artifacts and the lack of external proof paths prevent it from reaching a 'Minimal BS' rating. The 2026 temporal anchor makes the 2016 approval date appear 'stale,' further contributing to the technical neglect penalty.”
