[H1] Protection [H2] Find more information about protecting you and your family. MalariaZika VirusDengue FeverYellow FeverWest Nile VirusChikungunya [H2] Malaria [H3] Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. [H4] Overview You cannot be vaccinated against malaria, but you can protect yourself against this disease using the ABCDE approach to prevention. Awareness, bite prevention, chemoprophylaxis (taking malaria prevention tablets), diagnosis, emergency standby medication for malaria. For full information please go to FitForTravel.nhs.uk. The Anopheles mosquito is most active at night and so prevention measures should be taken during this time. [H4] Areas of Risk In 2015, 91 countries had ongoing malaria transmission*. Malaria is widespread in many tropical and subtropical countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa which carries a disproportionately high share of the global malaria burden with 90% of global cases. However, South-East Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, are also at risk. *http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs094/en/ [H4] Symptoms Malaria is an acute feverish illness. Symptoms appear between 1 and 2 weeks after the infective mosquito bite. The first symptoms – fever, headache, chills and vomiting – may be mild and difficult to recognize as malaria. If not treated within 24 hours the most serious forms of the diease can progress in severity, and become life-threatening. [H4] Treatment Early diagnosis and treatment of malaria reduces disease and prevents deaths. If you suspect you have malaria you should seek emergency medical treatment as soon as possible and mention that you have travelled to a malaria zone as soon as possible. If you’re diagnosed with malaria, your doctor must tell the public health authorities. It’s important that anybody you travelled with is warned, so that they can look out for symptoms themselves. More Info at who.intMore Info at nhs.uk [H2] Zika Virus [H3] In 2015, an outbreak of the zika virus occurred in the Caribbean, Central and South America with some cases also reported in Oceania and parts of Asia. [H4] Overview The zika virus is primarily spread by mosquitoes, predominantly the Aedes mosquito. The Aedes mosquito is particularly active during the day. As there is still no available vaccination, bite prevention is the main form of protection from zika. [H4] Areas of Risk High risk areas include South and Central America and the Caribbean as well as parts of Florida in the USA and Thailand. Some counties in Africa, the Pacific Islands and Asia have reported zika in the past but the risk to travellers here is much lower than in countries with zika epidemics. [H4] Symptoms For most people zika symptoms involve a very mild infection which isn’t harmful. Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, skin rash and conjunctivitis. [H4] Treatment There is no specific treatment for the zika virus. Treatment is primarily to relieve symptoms. Take paracetamol to reduce fever and pain and drink plenty of water. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen as this can increase the risk of bleeding. If you are pregnant and suspect you have zika, contact a doctor immediately and inform him of your travel history. [H4] Zika and Pregnancy Zika virus can be passed from a pregnant woman to her foetus. Infection during pregnancy can cause certain birth defects such as microcephaly. zika primarily spreads through infected mosquitoes but you can also get zika through sex. Pregnant women or couples planning a pregnancy are advised to postpone all non-essential travel to zika affected areas. If travel is essential – mosquito bite prevention and contraceptive measures are advised. If your partner has travelled to a zika affected area, protect yourself from sexual transmission by using a condom for at least 6 months after travel. Couples should contact their doctor after visiting a zika affected area, even if you do not feel sick. More Info at gov.ukMore Info at cdc.gov [H2] Dengue Fever [H3] The global incidence of dengue has grown dramatically in recent decades. [H4] Overview As many as 400 million people a year are infected by dengue. It is caused by any one of four related viruses transmitted to humans by the Aedes mosquito. The Aedes mosquito is particularly active during the day in the early morning and late afternoon. [H4] Areas of Risk In many parts of the tropics and subtropics, dengue is endemic, in that it occurs every year, usually during a season when Aedes mosquito populations are high, often during rainy season. [H4] Symptoms About half of the worlds population is now at risk. Dengue fever is a severe, flu-like illness but seldom causes death. Dengue should be suspected when a high fever is accompanied by 2 of the following symptoms: severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, vomiting, swollen glands or rash. Symptoms usually appear 4-10 days after the infected bite. Severe dengue is a potentially deadly complication, warning signs occur 3–7 days after the first symptoms in conjunction with a decrease in temperature (below 38°C/100°F) and include: cold clammy skin, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, breathing difficulties, bleeding gums, and blood in vomit. The next 24–48 hours of the critical stage can be lethal; proper medical care is needed to avoid complications and risk of death. [H4] Treatment There is no specific treatment for dengue. Treatment is primarily to relieve symptoms. Take paracetamol to reduce fever and pain and drink plenty of water. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen as this can increase the risk of bleeding. More Info at cdc.govMore Info at nhs.uk [H2] Yellow Fever [H3] Yellow fever is a serious viral infection, which is spread by the Aedes aegyptii mosquito and is endemic in Africa and South America. [H4] Overview Although a very rare disease, if infection occurs the risk of dying from yellow fever is significant. [H4] Symptoms Initial symptoms occur 3 to 6 days after exposure and include fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach-ache, headache and muscle pain. In severe cases jaundice occurs, which is the classic symptom of yellow fever, yellow skin and eyes. [H4] Treatment Seek professional medical advice prior to visiting a high-risk area. There is no treatment for yellow fever and this disease can only be prevented by immunisation and mosquito bite avoidance. Travellers should alert their GP of any fever like illness occurring after leaving an endemic area. [H2] West Nile Virus [H3] West Nile virus can infect humans, birds, mosquitoes, horses and some other mammals, but is most common in birds. [H4] Overview Spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, in humans it generally produces only a mild illness. But, like many other arboviruses, it can produce serious infection of the brain, or encephalitis. [H4] Areas of Risk It is found in Africa, West Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and in North America*. *http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs354/en/ [H4] Symptoms The incubation period is between 3 to 14 days – however, 80% of those infected will not experience any symptoms and 20% will develop flu-like symptoms, including fever, headache and general aches and pains. Less than 1% of people infected with WNV will develop severe infection leading to encephalitis, which can be fatal. Severe infection is more likely in people over 50 and those with a weak immune system. [H4] Treatment Seek professional medical advice prior to visiting a high-risk area. The best protection against this virus is bite prevention. Travellers should alert their GP of any fever like illness occurring after leaving an endemic area. [H2] Chikungunya [H3] Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted to humans by the Aedes mosquito. [H4] Overview The Aedes mosquito is particularly active during the day in the early morning and late afternoon. [H4] Areas of Risk Chikungunya has been identified in over 60 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. [H4] Symptoms The symptoms of chikungunya can be severe and disabling and in rare cases, result in death. Chikungunya is characterised by an abrupt onset of fever frequently accompanied by joint pain. Other common signs and symptoms include muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue and rash. Most patients will feel better within a week but in rare cases joint pain may persist for months. People at risk from complications of chikungunya include newborns infected around the time of birth, older adults (≥65 years), and people with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease. [H4] Treatment There is no specific treatment for chikungunya. Treatment is primarily to relieve symptoms. Take paracetamol to reduce fever and pain and drink plenty of water. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen until dengue can be ruled out to reduce the risk of bleeding. More Info at who.intMore Info at cdc.gov

[H1] FAQs [H2] All insect repellents work in a similar way by repelling and deterring insects. You can purchase Jungle Formula from most major retailers and pharmacists, as well as online. [H2] Is Jungle Formula safe to use? Jungle Formula products are suitable for use as insect repellents/insecticides. To ensure safe use of the products, you should always read the label and use in line with the instructions for use. [H2] Where can I find out more information related to Jungle Formula? If you have any questions about Jungle Formula please contact us at: 0203 598 9603 or by email: [email protected] [H2] Do I need a prescription? Jungle Formula products are available for purchase without a prescription. [H2] Who do I contact if I have questions about Jungle Formula? If you have any questions about Jungle Formula please contact us at: 0203 598 9603 or by email: [email protected] [H2] Has there been an artwork update? The overall design of the range of Jungle Formula products has changed, there have been updates to the instructions for use to help you get effective use from the product, and to comply with updates in regulations. [H2] Can I use more of the products in Jungle Formula range at once? We recommend using a Jungle Formula most suited to your skin sensitivity and where you are travelling to. Jungle Formula Plug In, Kids Bracelet and Bite & Sting Spray can be used with the other Jungle Formula products. [H2] Are Jungle Formula products suitable for people with allergies? Jungle Formula products should not be used with anyone who has any allergies to the ingredients in the product. If you have any specific allergies, please let us know and we will check whether the product contains them. We do not process any nuts in our plant nor do the products contain any latex so we would consider our products to be safe for use. However, if the person has several allergies, we would advise to try the product on a small spot before treating the whole body. The products contain several essentials oils which inherently contain some potential allergens. [H2] What Jungle Formula products are most suitable for asthmatics? The pump sprays, lotion and roll-on are suitable. It is best to avoid aerosols. [H2] Can I wear sunscreen with Jungle Formula products? We advise to read the label in the first instance, as it should state if you cannot use other skin products like sunscreen at the same time. Where simultaneous use of sunscreen and insect repellents occurs, the sunscreen should be applied before the repellent. Once the sunscreen is dry the insect repellent spray can then be applied. This method of application should avoid the sunscreen masking the smell and efficacy of the repellent. [H2] Can Jungle Formula products stain my clothes? We currently have a warning against the use of Jungle Formula products around materials such as synthetics, fabrics, plastics and lacquered surfaces. Unfortunately, we are not able to recommend a specific product to help remove the stain but we would suggest that a regular laundry detergent should help. [H2] Should I reapply after swimming? It is advisable to do so, provided it’s in line with the instructions for use. [H2] Where should I apply Jungle Formula? Insect repellents should be applied to exposed areas of the skin, commonly the arms and legs, in line with instructions for use. We recommend using clothing to limit the amount of skin exposed to mosquitoes. Caution should be taken in areas around the face. For ease of application Jungle Formula Sprays and Aerosols are ideal for the body, but for more sensitive areas like the face and neck, lotions and roll-ons are more appropriate. [H2] What insects are repelled? The Jungle Formula range has products that repel mosquitoes, midges and ticks. There are no studies conducted on other insects e.g. fleas, wasps and spiders. For other insects, we are unable to claim that Jungle Formula will be guaranteed to provide effective protection. Jungle Formula Outdoor & Camping also repels midges, wasps, mosquitoes, bees, and horseflies. Jungle Formula Plug in kills mosquitoes and other small insects. [H2] Can DEET damage grass or flora? DEET, the active ingredient in most mosquito repellents will burn the foliage of many plants and if sprayed with a heavy dose can completed desiccate even large plants. Years ago one of the major chemical companies investigated developing DEET as a herbicide but it was too expensive to manufacture and formulate and efforts to register the active ingredient was discontinued. The herbicidal action of DEET is contact and can be considered similar to any contact herbicide like paraquat, Liberty, Cobra, etc. It has limited translocation in the plant so any of the growing points not injured by the spray will develop branches and regrowth will occur. [H2] Why are there different instructions on the newest batches of this product? We have updated the instructions for use across multiple products within the Jungle Formula range, in line with current regulations. There will be a period of time that the product you are using may contain instructions which are different to the most recent advice. It is always appropriate to follow the instructions given on the product labelling. However, if you wish to follow the most recent advice, you can do this at your discretion.

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Medical Devices, Pharma & Biotech BS: Jungle Formula (jungleformula.co.uk)
Jungle Formula is a high-authority legacy brand that effectively uses ‘credibility by association’ with the NHS and WHO to mask a lack of direct clinical transparency. It is a professionally executed site where the BS is not in the science of the ingredients, but in the unverified ‘Trust Theatre’ of its market-leadership claims.
Replace the generic UK’s No. 1 claim with a cited reference to market data, such as Nielsen or IQVIA audit figures including the specific year. Add a Clinical Data section that links ‘scientifically proven’ claims to actual study abstracts or internal testing white papers. Implement a third-party review verification system (e.g., Trustpilot) to provide a proof path for the review counts currently displayed. Include HSE registration numbers or regulatory clearance IDs for the biocidal products to ground the marketing in official regulatory substance.
The website strongly aligns with the Pharma and Medical category, specifically within consumer health and biocides. It uses industry-standard technical language regarding DEET concentrations, World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, and specific pathogen vectors like Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes.
“The score of 37 is driven by the Trust and Proof pillar and Information Density. Specifically, the Trust Theatre flag was triggered by the presence of review counts without verification links, and the Information Density score was penalized for the high frequency of the 'UK's No. 1' claim without a primary source. The site's near-perfect Semantic Coherence score (2) prevented it from entering the high-BS range.”
